Pricing · one purchase
Buy it once. Keep it.
Reading in Tomen is free, and everything you do with what you read is one purchase of $49. There is no monthly plan, no renewal and no tier above it. This page says what that covers, where, and what happens if you never buy.
Reading is free, and stays free
Every format, the reader itself and every gesture that turns a page. Eleven themes and the full type ladder, the same typesetting the paid reader gets. Your place kept to the line in every book. A shelf with search and sort, comics in every direction, a backup file that restores everything. No ads, no account, no trial clock on any of it. If you never spend anything, this is a complete reader, not a demo of one.
What $49, once, buys
- Mark it up. Highlights, notes and bookmarks without limit; the dictionary, Wikipedia and translation over the page; a wordbook; your old highlights brought over from Kindle, Kobo, Apple Books, Readwise, Moon+ Reader, KOReader and Boox.
- Make it yours. Pins, favorites and finished marks; tags, collections and a private shelf; the Journal and the Index; any accent color; type per title.
- Take it with you. Sync of your reading on every device, never your files; your Dropbox folder as a library; your highlights exported as Markdown; read aloud and auto-turn.
One purchase covers the web app, the Android app and the Windows app together. Sign in with the same address on each and the purchase is there.
Thirty days first, no card
An account, which is an email code and no password, comes with 30 days of Plus. Nothing is charged at the end and nothing is asked for at the start. If you decide against it, you keep reading, and nothing you made during the month is deleted: the highlights stay in the books, the shelf stays as you arranged it. A lapsed account can still pull its synced data down and export it; it just cannot push new changes up.
What “once” means here
There is no renewal date and no plan to downgrade from. New features land in the same purchase. The app sells no books and has no store, so the $49 is the only money that ever changes hands, and it is the whole business: Tomen is made by one person and is meant to pay for itself at cost, not to grow a subscription. The refund policy is a page, not a form.
What the purchase does not cover
- An iPhone or iPad app. There is none; the web app works in Safari for reading, but Tomen has no app on the App Store.
- A Kindle, Kobo or other e-reader. Tomen runs in a browser, on Android and on Windows, and cannot run on a device with no browser. Android e-ink tablets are the exception.
- Books. Tomen reads the files you own and does not sell, lend or unlock any.
If you read on an iPhone or a Kindle, do not buy this. If you read on a phone, a tablet and a PC and you are tired of paying monthly for a shelf, this is the one purchase.
Trying it
- Open read.tomen.app and add a book. That is the free reader, whole.
- Sign in when you want sync, highlights without a limit, or the Journal. The month starts then, not before.
- Buy Plus on the device you are on, and it is on all of them.
